There’s a valid reason why some people may not be open to your social media marketing on websites like Facebook and Twitter. The number of cyber crime activities continues to rise, and cybercriminals love social media websites. In addition to spamming people, and sending them to websites full of malware, they’re hacking profiles and committing identity theft. It’s no wonder people why are leery of following links that legitimate business owners send as part of social media marketing.
What You Can Do?
Do what you can to not look like a spammer. Cybercriminals are spammers, and you want to stay far away from appearing like them. Strategize the posts and tweets you’ll send on a weekly basis, before you take any action. Ask yourself this question: “Would I think I were a spammer based on these messages?” If the answer is yes, reduce the amount of messages you plan to send, or change the focus. For example, if 95 percent of what you’re sending has to do with product sales, lower that to 60 percent and use the other 40 percent to send useful information your fans and followers can use.
Explain Your Spam Free Policy in Profiles!
Let people know that you’re not there to spam them. Include the words “spam free policy” on your profile, so that they’re assured that getting your updates is worth their while. They can also review past posts, discussions and tweets to judge for themselves, and you can invite them to do that. Hold to your promise to not spam, because no one will want to do business with you if you break your promise.
Cybercriminals make it harder to stand out and build trust with others using social media, but it’s not a lost cause. Stick to these principles, and you can do well.
