Some entrepreneurs get video marketing, and others hate it. Whether it’s insecurity about their talent or appearance, the thought of showing up in a YouTube video is unnerving. If that’s you, video marketing represents zero percent of your marketing campaign. That’s a shame, because when done right, viral marketing through videos pays dividends, and the bills.
Excuse #1: That’ not My Area of Expertise
Successful videos on YouTube aren’t necessarily produced by expert video producers. They’re produced by every day people, who aren’t even thinking about business. Imagine what you can do if you approach it with specific marketing objectives in mind. Producing a video for marketing purposes does require some knowledge, but learning it is like anything else in business. There’s probably YouTube videos on how to create YouTube videos for marketing purposes. Find them, watch them and make your own. If you’ve got room in your budget, hire a video producer to make one for you.
Excuse #2: I’m too Fat
It’s not stated so blatantly, but when you peel away the politically correct speech, some entrepreneurs are afraid that they’ll drive customers away, not pull them in, because of their appearance. The first solution to this fear, is not to appear in the video at all. Use family members, friends, interns or actors, depending on your marketing budget. Another solution is not to worry about it. Social media marketing is effective when you’re authentic. Let people see who you are, as long as you put your best foot forward. Either solution is fine, and it depends on who you’re marketing to.
There’s really no excuse for not making the time and putting in the effort to incorporate video marketing in your campaigns. It could be key to keeping your business afloat.
