In this era of digital technology, shared information and social media you can not go a day without hearing somebody claiming they have been hacked. The most recent and notable situation involving hackers was the group LulzSec who used their expertise as a way to breach the cyber security of AT&T, PBS, the CIA and many others. This malicious attack led to the release of 62,000 emails addresses, passwords and documents of those who represent these major companies.

Some of these attacks by hackers can pose a threat to a whole community and sometimes it is nothing serious at all. Most people believe they have a secure password that only they can figure out. Hackers look at these people as a challenge they are willing to face. There are simple things you can do to protect yourself from these threats. Instead of using the same password for every website, pick a password that has a direct correlation to the website. Another way to secure your passwords are by changing them every couple of months. Social media has exploded in recent years due to sites such as YouTube, Yelp, Facebook, Twitter, and thousands of other social marketing websites. anSocial Media as a concept has been flipped several times, and surprisingly has revealed varied faces. In a broad sense of a term Social media is a medium of connecting and drawing communities together in an engaging activity or discussion. A process occurring the other way round with communities being drawn together first and then being cumulated into a social group will also refer to Social Media.

There is another facet to Social Media, it is although a marketing tool, and it involves a number of technology giants to get social media solutions. This marks the coming together (to clash or to merge is a big question) of two different fields of operation – Technology and Marketing. While Social dynamics drive purchasing and branding, technology enables branding and further activities.

In general social media is the common thread that blends technology and social interaction, resulting in creation of value. Social media is a communication instrument that not just provides information, but also interacts by the means of comments and likes or dislikes. Social Media is also different from the usual one way media instruments such as reading a newspaper or a magazine, without the writer or creator of news being unaware of user comments or opinions. Social media contrarily is a two way communication process.

In December Twitter teamed up with Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers to generate almost $200 million in private funding. That wave of new funds boosted the estimated worth of Twitter to a whopping $3.7 billion. Twitter has not made the move to become publicly traded on the stock market but that has not stalled its efforts to generate private funding. The newest round of private funding will give Twitter access to millions of dollars. When I say millions I am talking about hundreds of millions. If all goes well as it should, analyst are predicting Twitters worth to be somewhere around $7 billion.

As word of mouth spreads about the ease of using Twitter more people are signing up to follow their favorite athletes, actors, and musicians. This connection may be online but Twitter gives its users the feeling of being able to express themselves. Even if users do not get a response from the person they are following they can be sure their Tweet was read and their opinion was heard. The direct connect design of Twitter has everything to do with its increase in users and the meteoric rise in revenue from advertisers.

Since the beginning of social networking people who look for love online have always been the butt of many jokes. Things like finding out a girl is a guy or learning that a young bombshell is really a 50 year old mother are just a few of the online dating horror stories. When Leah Gibbs started talking with Adam Minton on Facebook I’m sure she had heard a few dating horror stories. Leah was into Adam and thought he was somebody she could spend time hanging out with. Adam directed a clueless Leah Gibbs to the betting agent Ladbrokes and told her to park and wait for him. When he came running out of the store with a knife in his hand, she probably should have drove off without him. Instead he jumped in her car and shouted at her to drive. With no knowledge of the armed robbery that just took place, Leah did as Adam said and drove him back to his house. As if the robbery wasn’t enough Adam directed her to come inside with him but the arrival of local authorities put an end to their night.

The whole robbery was a surprise to Leah but she was still arrested for her part as the getaway driver. Adam soon came clean and gave a statement that led to Leah being released with no charges. It is hard to understand what was going through Adam Mintons mind when he involved this young lady in such a serious crime. Maybe he thought she would find him appealing and this would be the start of a new Bonnie and Clyde relationship. Girls like to walk on the wild side every once in a while but landing in jail is not usually what they have in mind. One thing is for sure, the four years in prison he received will give him plenty of time to think about it.

It would be like applying for a job as a writer, with no writing experience or writing samples to show for. Social media positions are many and on the rise, but they’re competitive. Prove that You’ve Branded You

You may not be able to show any experience promoting a business brand if you’re new to social media. It would be nice if you can show on your resume or portfolio how you took an unknown product and made it known on social media channels, as evidenced by increased sales. However, if you’re not there yet, then there’s one brand that you need to build, and that’s you. Employers are going to go to the social media channels and enter your name. They’ll do a Google search to see what comes up. If you’ve built your personal brand, and have followers and fans, they’ll take note. If you don’t, why should they bother?

Know and Understand SMO

The social aspect of social media is important, but just as important is the technical aspects. You must know and understand social media optimization (SMO). An employer sees value in someone who already gets it and doesn’t need to be trained in that area. They like it because they want people to find your tweets or other YouTube video.
