This is still in it’s initial testing stage and is not set to be released anytime soon. Supposedly, there is an additional box that will search through Dish network and YouTube for entertainment for you to view on yout television set. This may be similar to the premier TiVo service announced early March 2010.

This is not the first time Google has dabbled into the realm of television. In 2008 Google AdWords launched Google TV Ads for companies to advertise their ads through. This has not been as successful as other Google ventures, but there is always time to tweak their platform and make changes. this could very well be the future of television.

What is your take on Google entering into your home TV set? Are you excited or nervous to see this happen?

This is not true for all searchers as this feature is still in the development stage, but every once in a while you will get a page of results, where the first fold is full of Google ads. This is another way for Google to monopolize on the search engine business and is not good. It is scary knowing that Google can and is willing to move the organic listings to where they will receive significantly less traffic.

The first fold of the screen, where you want your website to appear has become saturated with sponsored results, rather than a mix of organic and sponsored search engine results. This is not fair and leads us search engine marketers to believe that we may have to focus in on ranking on other search engines not so cluttered with ads.

There are thousands of search engines on the web that are used on a daily basis, it’s just that the big 3 (Google, Yahoo, and Bing) dominate the market, so that is all you hear about. There are even niche search engines that only provide results for a specific industry. By targeting smaller, niche search engines we can narrow down our target audience into people that are interested in your products/ services/ information.
